CHARLOTTE -- It's official, Time Warner Cable Arena is now Spectrum Center.
The change was announced in August following the merger between Charter Communications and Time Warner Cable.
Officials with Charter and the Charlotte Hornets cut the ribbon today to signify the transition is complete.
Spectrum Center signs are now in place throughout the building.
There's also a new basketball court and state-of-the-art scoreboard.
"Well it's exciting to have our building be rebranded as the Spectrum Center. As Time Warner Cable and Charter went through their merger, we quickly got out in front of trying to make sure we could get the rebranding done on our arena to get it ready for our season opening. So we are thrilled today to announce that officially Time Warner Cable Arena has become the Spectrum Center," said Fred Whitfield, president of Hornets Sports and Entertainment.
Spectrum is the brand name of Charter's all-digital TV, Internet and voice offerings.
Charter Communications is the parent company of Time Warner Cable News.
