Cindy Applebaum has been named Market President and Publisher of the Albany Business Review, effective immediately.
The announcement was made today by Whitney Shaw, president and CEO of American City Business Journals, which owns the Albany Business Review and nationwide network of 43 local print and digital business journals.
Applebaum comes to the Business Review from Time Warner Cable Media Sales, where she has been general manager of the company’s 11-county Capital Region.
An Albany native, Applebaum joined Time Warner as a local sales manager in 2005 and was promoted to regional manager in 2010. Prior to joining Time Warner, she had successful stops in mortgage banking and wireless communications.
Applebaum succeeds Carolyn Jones, who is now the publisher and market president of ACBJ’s Boston Business Journal.
Mike Olivieri, executive vice president for ACBJ, said Applebaum is uniquely qualified to lead the Albany Business Review with experience in the media industry and familiarity with the local market.
“Cindy Applebaum is an experienced media executive with a long track record of driving positive growth,” Olivieri said. “Cindy is also a long time reader and fan of the Albany Business Review. I know that, combined with her passion and commitment to the Capital Region, makes her uniquely qualified to lead a strong team already doing great work, in a time of significant change to how we help local executives grow their business, advance their careers, and simplify their professional lives.”
Applebaum said the role of publisher and market president for the Business Review is a good fit with her experience.
